Agenda:

Update from Meeting with SCOC Liaisons

SCOC is about to approve a new baseline survey against which they will make future comparisons. The new baseline take into account some of the feedback they received through the Cadence Notes, and at the meeting, Renee and Colin gave a presentation to describe their deliberations and what has (and has not) been incorporated into the new baseline.

You can review their slides here, my notes from the meeting here, and view a recording of our meeting here.

These materials were circulated last week to give everyone the chance to comment before they make a decision, expected later today.

At the SMWLV Task Force meeting, Knut reviewed the new notebook Lynne has composed to illustrate the updated baseline footprint.

This footprint incorporates the Galactic Plane footprint map TVS contributed, and some of the dust-free survey footprint includes some areas of the Gal Plane map.

It does NOT yet take into account what the SCOC have termed "micro-surveys", which tend to have smaller time requests and be more specialized in their science return. It is expected that these will be addressed in a later phase.

One of the key questions that came out of both discussions is that the MAF team have not incorporated many of the community-provided metrics into the standard set of metrics that they run on each OpSim. We highlighted to the SCOC the disconnect between the MAF and SCOC's expectations and those of the community in this respect.

To overcome this, Will and Rachel have volunteered to update the spreadsheet of community metrics and make this publicly available as a reference to the MAF team.
