Software Workshops Next Year

Fed noted some upcoming meetings regarding software development:

"Dear colleagues, We are planning a workshop focused on topics in open source software development practices for astronomy, held in person at the Center for Computational Astrophysics in New York City, May 16–20, 2022. The program and scope are still in development, but we expect it to be of interest to astronomers with a wide range of open source experience, and across all career stages. The schedule will include a large fraction of unstructured time for participant-driven discussion, collaboration, and co-working. For more information about this workshop and to sign up to hear more details as they become available, please check out our website at https://code.astrodata.nyc Please share this email with your department lists and/or anyone else who you think might be interested in participating in this event."

Fed posed the idea that it would be valuable for a TVS member to attend this meeting, share information with the rest of the collaboration, and perhaps present TVS' perspective at the meeting.

Fed stressed that this is particularly of interest to TVS because it focuses on best practices for software engineering.

"We are excited to announce the “LINCC science priorities workshop”, aimed at identifying computationally-intensive analysis use cases for the first few years of LSST data.  Please save the date: March 28-30, 2022, at the Center for Computational Astrophysics (CCA) in New York (in-person preferred, with travel support provided for participants, and with remote participation enabled for those who cannot travel).  The workshop should serve a broad subset of the LSST science community, including…
