PST Telecon - Update from Zeljko re SCOC

Zeljko gave an overview of the SCOC's process to date.

Preliminary recording is available here. Edited version is to be uploaded to YouTube shortly.

Phase 1 survey strategy recommendations from the SCOC: https://pstn-053.lsst.io/

Unfortunately the recording isn't available yet.

Zeljko stressed that any metrics not incorporated into the MAF by the end of the year would not be taken into consideration.

Igor felt that they were uncertain as to whether their metrics were integrated with the MAF. The metrics appear to be in the new rubin_sims repo, but unclear if they are being evaluated.

Rachel stressed the importance of the metric packages to ensure the metrics are evaluated.

Igor stressed that authors should not just upload code to the repo and assume that it will be run.

Igor also emphasized the lack of feedback from the SCOC/MAF team was confusing because they didn't realize that the metrics weren't being taken into account.

Sara has strongly advocated for feedback from the SCOC for some time, and noted that she has not had feedback following her last email some time ago.

Sara has contacted Peter and found him to be extremely helpful. Peter helped to develop MAF code for the Carina Nebula evaluation but it is unclear that this has been implemented.
